Kevin Brown / Founder
I am a builder.
I find difficult business problems, understand the system beneath them, and design and build an elegant way forward. The technology changes. That mission does not.

The through line
Different disciplines. The same kind of work.
Across more than two decades, I have worked in revenue, go-to-market, operations, data, software, and technology. For a long time, Growth Architecture was the most visible expression of that work. It was real—but it was not the whole.
The work I am most drawn to begins when the normal categories stop being useful: the problem crosses teams; the data tells competing stories; software is part of the answer but not all of it; or growth is exposing an operating model that no longer fits.
I stay close to both executive intent and implementation. That lets me connect decisions that are often separated—business design from technical architecture, workflows from data, and strategy from the system people must actually operate.
Dark Horse exists to do that work without forcing it into a consulting service category.

Working beliefs
The principles behind the practice.
01
The company is the unit of design.
Customers and outcomes do not respect departmental boundaries.
02
Architecture must survive implementation.
A beautiful model that cannot be built or operated is not useful.
03
The problem chooses the tools.
Capabilities are means; they should never become the identity or the sales agenda.
04
Independence is an outcome.
The client should gain a system and the ability to operate it—not a permanent dependency.
START WITH THE PROBLEM
Bring me the problem.
If the problem crosses teams, systems, or data—and the obvious answers have not held—let’s examine the system behind it.
